Adamawa State governor Murtala Nyako has received four
awards in the areas of education, agriculture, veterinary development
and contribution to the sovereign wealth fund.
The educational award was presented to the Adamawa State University by the Oxford University, London following the university’s ranking as one among the 40 best regional universities in the world.
During the presentation of the plaque, certificate and trophy won by the university to Governor Nyako, the vice chancellor of the university, Professor Alkasum Abbah said the university did not get the awards on a platter of gold as they were given on the recommendation of the European Business Assembly.
He added that the criteria for the award included staff qualification, university’s accreditation, equipments and regular implementation of courses among many areas considered.
While presenting the veterinary development award to the governor, the state chairman of the Veterinary Association of Nigeria, Dr Edgar Amos, said the association gave the award to the governor for his unflinching support to the profession.
He said the contributions of Nyako to the profession included the employment of many veterinary doctors, implementation of CONMESS salary structure and the development of Bio Technology and modern veterinary practices.
