Man, 23, arrested for stalking a child on the Internet by pretending to be a police officer

The Internet can be a pretty scary place with many perverts lurking and trying to get to young kids.

Travis Beard, 23, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, pretended to be a police officer when he contacted a 15-year-old girl on Twitter.

The man exchanged text messages and sexually explicit photos with the girl.

“The Cyber Crimes Division kept an eye out for Beard after he posted several inappropriate comments on a social media site,” Keshia Guyll of the Benton County Sheriff’s Office said.

An undercover investigation discovered that he has been posting as a police officer, and exchanged text messages and photographs, which included a photo of his private part with an underage girl.

An officer posed as an underage girl and caught Beard stalking the “girl.” He was also caught being inappropriate toward the officer, whom he thought was a child.

Beard was arrested and charged with Internet stalking of a child. He may also face charges of impersonating a police officer.
