Jail Host is now enabled by default for all new hosts

Introduced to our web hosting platform more than a year ago, the Jail Host functionality has brought a new dimension to the concept of site security. By 'jailing' the 'germ' within the limits of a given host, Jail Host prevents it from spreading out to the rest of the account, offering extra protection against intruders who have managed to infiltrate into the system Now the Jail Host option is enabled by default for all newly created hosts to double protect them from intruders. How does the Jail Host option work? The main purpose of Jail Host is to outsmart eventual intruders. Even though security solutions are getting more and more reliable, hackers seem to always be one step ahead of the game. The truth is that no universal painkiller for hack attacks has been invented yet. This is where the extra Jail Host barrier can come in real handy. If an intruder does manage to break into a website, if Jail Host is enabled, they will not be able to move to another host and sprea

Facebook Entices VR Content Creators With Open Source Surround Cam

Facebook on Tuesday unveiled a high-quality 360-degree 3D camera suitable for creating virtual reality content. The Facebook Surround 360 system, which made its debut at the F8 developers conference, includes a production-ready camera -- which costs about US$30,000 to build and looks like a flying saucer from a science fiction movie -- and software for controlling the camera and for stitching and rendering what the camera captures. "In designing this camera, we wanted to create a professional-grade end-to-end system that would capture, edit and render high-quality 3D-360 video," said Brian K. Cabral, Facebook's director of engineering. "In doing so," he continued, "we hoped to meaningfully contribute to the 3D-360 camera landscape by creating a system that would enable more VR content producers and artists to start producing 3D-360 video." Is Facebook trying to get into the camera business? Not quite. Open Source 360 "Facebook isn

E2E Encryption Could Make WhatsApp a Spam Magnet

Facebook's WhatsApp last week announced it would roll out end-to-end encryption for its users to better protect their privacy, but the move could make the service more attractive to spammers, too. While encryption can safeguard information from data thieves, it also can block data protectors from detecting malicious activity on their networks. "WhatsApp's encryption policy is a win for privacy advocates, but it will not stop the growth of spam on the platform and could make the problem worse," said Simeon Coney, chief strategy officer for AdaptiveMobile. "WhatsApp has always had limited spam control in place," he told TechNewsWorld, "and encryption will make detecting spam and malicious links with malware that much more difficult." Spam Magnet Over the last three to four years, mobile carriers have made it harder for spammers to deliver their junk messages,Coney noted. That's prodded them to look for greener pastures. "We've seen spamme

HOW ON GOD’S GREEN EARTH IS THE B-52 STILL IN SERVICE?

EARLIER THIS MONTH, a contingent of US Air Force B-52 Stratofortress bombers landed at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. They're there to support Operation Inherent Resolve, the push to eliminate the Islamic State throughout Iraq, Syria, and elsewhere. The B-52s will drop GPS- guided smart-bombs and conventional 500-pound bombs on targets, and play other types of communication and monitoring roles. The 160-foot-long bombers—built by Boeing and nicknamed BUFFs, for "Big Ugly Fat Fuckers"—have storied histories, including setting an around-the-world nonstop flight record, patrolling the Soviet Union's border with nuclear warheads 24-hours-a-day for eight years straight, and making a memorable appearance in Stanley Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove. For 60 years, the bomber's been a constant presence in America's arsenal, seeing action in Vietnam, the Serbian conflict, the Gulf War, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Of the 744 B-52s Boeing built between 1952 and 1962, 7

WHY TESLA’S MODEL X IS GIVING SOME DRIVERS DOUBLE VISION

WINDSHIELDS ARE RARELY gush- worthy, but the one on Tesla's Model X truly is: It swoops up and over your head, offering an unfettered panoramic view of the road. But that windshield is also causing trouble. As Jalopnik recently highlighted, some drivers have complained the glass causes double vision at night. What's happening? In one word, physics. And pretty simple physics. I promise. You don't even need any math to understand. Imagine looking through a vertical pane of glass, like a window. Whenever light passes through two different materials—like going from air to glass or glass to air —some light passes through the second material and some reflects off. When light hits a window straight on, most of it goes right through the glass and very little reflects. But if it hits at an angle—like on a sloped windshield—some the light will reflect off the glass-air boundary, which goes back and hits the air-glass boundary, and so on. "Those multiple reflections keep rattling

100 LUCKY DRIVERS IN CHINA WILL GET TO TEST VOLVO’S SELF-DRIVING CARS

Simultaneously pull the two wheel- mounted paddles in the Volvo XC90 to turn on self-driving mode. Volvo's going to put customers in Sweden and China into its autonomous cars starting next year. VOLVO NO ONE'S QUITE sure on just when people will be able to summon a self-driving car and go wherever they need to go. Too many variables—how the technology advances, how regulations are developed, what consumer acceptance looks like—remain for anyone to say, but that's not keeping Volvo from offering a date: 2020. The Swedes synonymous with safety want to eliminate all traffic deaths and serious injuries in their cars by the end of the decade. Because airbags, automatic braking and other active tech can only do so much, Volvo plans to use automated driving to do it. Next year, it plans to see how that tech works in the real world when it puts 100 customers in robocars for an extended beta test in Gothenburg, Sweden. Today, the company announced it will do the same thing in China.

Commonwealth Bank: Crude oil will trade from $35 to $55 per barrel until 2020

Don't look for a sharp recovery in the crude oil price any time soon, it's likely to oscillate between $35 to $55 per barrel for the remainder of the decade. That's that the view of Vivek Dhar, mining and energy commodities analyst at the CBA, who suggests that unless OPEC cuts supply in order to rebalance the market, the price is likely to be capped in the mid-$50 region due to the likelihood of marginal US shale restarting production. "Oil prices should lift on average in 2Q16 and 3Q16 as US oil supply continues to track lower and demand picks up, but high OECD inventories, increasing Iranian crude oil output and a potential restart of US oil shale output at around US$55/bbl should lead oil lower again in 4Q16 and 1Q17," says Dhar. "OPEC crude oil output should lift by around 1 million barrels per day (mb/d) over the next year as Iran boosts output and as other OPEC members maintain current production rates." Beyond 2017, Dhar anticipates that "cru

Japan probably won't see 'helicopter money' anytime soon

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Bank of Japan governor Haruhiko Kuroda ruled out the use of "helicopter drops" of money. "Helicopter money" is a broadly- defined term that includes anything from governments potentially depositing money into consumers' bank accounts to the central bank printing money with the sole aim of the government using it to complete projects. Either way, this experiment isn't coming to Japan. Here's the WSJ: While Mr. Kuroda has emphasized his willingness to take whatever steps are necessary to lift inflation to 2%, there is one bridge he says he won't cross: "helicopter money." This refers to the central bank printing money (for example, by buying government bonds) to explicitly finance expanded government spending or tax cuts. "We have no intention to employ helicopter money, anything like that," Mr. Kuroda said, because it would blur the division of responsibilities between parliament, which

YOU WANT TO BUILD AN EMPIRE LIKE GOOGLE’S? THIS IS YOUR OS

GOOGLE CALLED IT Borg, and for many years, it was among the company's best-kept secrets. Borg ran just about everything within the company, including Google Search, Gmail,Google Maps, Google Docs, and any other Google service you can think of—not to mention the private services you and I never see. Basically, it provided a way of parceling tasks across dozens, hundreds, even thousands of machines with extreme efficiency. A few years ago, uber Google engineer John Wilkes told me Borg was so efficient—so adept at finding a use for available processing power on each and every machine—that it had probably saved Google the cost of building another data center. And those things are expensive. Even then, Borg remained veiled in secrecy. Wilkes wouldn't even refer to it by name. But inside another big-name company, Twitter, Ben Hindman was recreating this sweeping software tool alongside several former Google engineers. They called it Mesos. Hindman started the project as a grad student

Donald Trump revealed as Russia's preferred choice as president

There is only one country which would like to see Donald Trump enter the White House - and it's not the US. According to a new survey from YouGov for the Handelsblatt Global Edition, Russia is the only major economy in the world that prefers the Republican, yellow-haired candidate over Hillary Clinton. The survey polled more than 20,000 adults in every G20 country. The results show that Mr Trump leads by 21 points in Russia, while Ms Clinton claims more than 21 points over her rival in 15 other countries. The same survey shows that 79 per cent of Russians are dissatisfied with their economic situation - only second to South Korea - yet 74 per cent of Russians vote for their president Vladimir Putin as the most trusted leader. Mexico gives Ms Clinton the widest berth from Mr Trump at an incredible 54 points. Mr Trump has continually targeted Mexican immigrants, saying he will build a wall to keep out illegal immigrants and has implied they are responsible for murderin

13 high-paying side jobs for people in their 20s

You just graduated and accepted your first job — congrats! That probably means you'll be moving into a real, adult apartment. You'll have rent to cover, bills to pay, and furniture to buy. Oh, you'll also need a new work wardrobe — and you'll probably want to grab the occasional drink or meal at your new neighborhood hot spots. All of those things cost money — a lot of it. And chances are, that job you just accepted doesn't pay as much as you'd like. Luckily, there are some easy ways to make extra cash when you're in your 20s and trying to make ends meet. FlexJobs, an online service specializing in telecommuting and remote work, recently put together a list of high-paying jobs you can do on the side. To qualify for the list, each job had to be considered "flexible" — and not full-time — and had to pay at least double the federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour, according to the job posting on FlexJobs. Brie Reynolds, director of online content for Flex

Europe is about to hit Google with antitrust charges over Android

AMSTERDAM/FRANKFURT (Reuters) - The European competition commission is gearing up to charge Google with giving unfair prominence to its own apps like search and maps in supplementary software licensing deals it strikes with mobile phone makers running its Android operating system, four sources familiar with the process said on Monday. Google generated an estimated $11 billion (€9.73 billion) last year from sales of ads running on Android phones featuring Google apps. Android has become the dominant software in recent years, running most of the world's smartphones. If the EU were to find Google guilty of market abuse it could lead to a fine of up to $7.4 billion or 10 percent of 2015 revenue, while forcing it to change its business practices. EU antitrust chief Margrethe Vestager said on Monday her agency's probe centers on the use of exclusive contracts which enable phone firms to run Google's own apps and not necessarily on demands they bundle in a complete set of Google a

18 choices millionaires make that the rest of us don't

Getting rich isn't reserved for a lucky, select few. "Like most things in life, becoming good at attracting money is no different than becoming good at anything else, be it being a sub-par golfer, losing weight, or mastering a second language," writes self-made millionaire Steve Siebold, author of "How Rich People Think." Almost anyone can make it happen —and it often begins with your thoughts, beliefs, and choices. Here are 18 choices the wealthiest people make on a daily basis that most of us fail to emulate. Rich people choose to be in control of their success. "Rich people believe, 'I create my life,' while average people think, 'Life happens to me,'" writes T. Harv Eker in " Secrets of the Millionaire Mind." You have to be in control of your financial life, he emphasizes: "You have to believe that you are the one who creates your success, that you are the one who creates your mediocrity, and that you are the one creatin

We just got a big clue about the Apple Car

There's nothing more confusing in business or technology right now than the Apple Car. On one hand, there's a consensus in the auto industry that Apple is doing ... something. On the other, the news around "Project Titan" continues to be kind of strange. Here's the latest: Apple could be developing the Apple Car in a secret Berlin lab, according to a report from Frankfurter Allgemeine," reported Business Insider UK's Sam Shead on Monday. We thought Apple was developing the Apple Car in a secret Silicon Valley lab, but of course Apple is entitled to operate as many secret labs worldwide as it wants. And it makes sense that Apple, a secretive company, would want to keep "Project Titan" under wraps. But this new German angle is, like pretty much every other piece of Apple Car news, downright strange. Apple doesn't need to develop a car in Germany — and in fact it would probably be inadvisable to do it there. The German auto industry is controll

Here's everything we know about Project Titan, Apple's rumoured electric car

Just a few weeks ago, the idea that Apple might make a car seemed like an outlandish rumour. Today, it's accepted by many as gospel. Numerous reports have filtered through in recent days, providing more detail on Apple's automotive ambitions. Of course, nothing has been confirmed yet. The Apple Car would be a massive,multi-year undertaking. But here's what we've heard so far: It's called Project Titan. The detail comes via a report from the Wall Street Journal. It's an electric car. This puts the company in competition with Tesla, which develops cutting edge electric-powered vehicles. VC and entrepreneur Jason Calacanis has predicted Apple will acquired Tesla in 18 months — for an eye-watering $75 billion. Apple CEO Tim Cook has also expressed a repeated interest in renewable energy . The company recently announced it's building a $850 million solar plant to power its California operations. It looks like a minivan. The prototype could be subject to change bef

The Apple Car is reportedly being developed in a secret Berlin lab

Apple could be developing the Apple Car in a secret Berlin lab, according to a report from Frankfurter Allgemeine. The German publication said on Monday that it had "learned from informed sources that Apple is running a secret laboratory for the development of an automobile — and this in the middle of Berlin." The laboratory is reportedly home to 15-20 staff with backgrounds in engineering, software, hardware, and sales. Apple could also be looking at building the vehicle — widely referred to as either the Apple Car or the iCar — in Vienna, Austria, according to Frankfurter Allgemeine. In order to build the car in Vienna, Apple will reportedly team up with vehicle engineering and contract manufacturing firm Magna. Apple has never admitted that it is working on an electric car but the company has recruited dozens of automotive experts from companies like Ford and Mercedes- Benz, according to The Financial Times. The Apple Car, which may or may not be self-d

Here is how a ethical hacker works at IBM

As an ethical hacker for IBM, Charles Henderson gets paid to think like a bad guy. His job is to break into networks, applications, or physical locations to find out how a real attacker would carry out their work, uncovering errors and the effect those errors might have on an organization's security. IBM says that there has been a continuous change in corporations appointing their own hackers to "pen-test" (penetration test) online systems, networks, and physical locations, considering the increase in cyber-attacks and the need to strengthen cyber security. In fact, Henderson is just one of the 1,000 security specialists the tech giant hired in 2015. In a candid conversation with Business Insider, Henderson, 40, described what is like to be a hacker for IBM. He said he has always been curious as a kid. He grew up in Austin, Texas where he still resides has now become a haven for young technologists with its lively computer security scene. Henderson attended the University

Audi has unleashed a new monster diesel SUV

Audi's high performance diesel prototype racers have decimated its competition on the race tracks for the last decade. Now, Audi is taking its high- performance oil-burning tech and dropping it into the company's flagship Q7 SUV to create the new SQ7 TDI. Under the hood, the SQ7 comes packing Audi's new 4.0 liter, twin- turbocharged, diesel V8 engine with an electric compressor. The result is a luxury SUV with 435 horsepower and 664 lb. ft. of torque while achieving a manufacturer claimed 32 mpg. According to Audi, the SQ7 is good for a sprint to 62 mph in just 4.8 seconds and an artificially limited top speed of 155mph. That's impressive for such a large high-performance crossover SUV. And much of this can be attributed to that new twin-turbo diesel V8. The 4.0 liter unit utilizes sequential turbocharging technology which deploys one turbo for low and medium engine speeds and the other for high-end performance. The two exhaust driven turbos are augmented by a electric

The Importance Of Adding Content Marketing To Your 2016 Marketing Plan

Content marketing has become the buzz word in the last few years. Because of the latest algorithms that Google has put in place, it has become increasingly important that website owners produce content that will captivate readers and engage them. Content marketing offers businesses the opportunity to connect with customers by producing content that is relevant and educational. It is an excellent way to build your brand and be seen as an expert, which is vital for attracting new business. Mobile devices are being used regularly to access the internet and the content that is created needs to target these consumers. When you are trying to pinpoint the exact demographic you are marketing to, it is essential that you consider the methods they will be using to log on. For instance, if you are targeting teen girls who are still in high school, it is important that all of your content can easily be read on a mobile device since this is the main method they would use to get online. You should al

Virtual private server hosting – By Josidel Hosting

Demand of webhosting services is increasing at a very fast speed. There were times when such services were not so common but these days there would hardly be any web owner who is having no idea about them. Online businesses are blooming and so does their needs. It is obvious that not everyone can invest in all the modules needed to run a business. It is because of no other reason than this they rent the services. Renting web space on the third party servers is not a new approach but the one who is going for it needs to choose wisely. Hosting a website is possible through different ways. One is free to consider dedicated option and in this approach a specific server is assign to every client by the company you will hire. The clients are having the entire control on server, hardware, operating systems as well as on managing and accommodating the traffic. However there are several online business owners for whom this option is not suitable. This is mainly because it has higher monthly ren
