The National Assembly will pass the much anticipated Petroleum Industry
Bill, PIB, next year, Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on
Petroleum Resources, downstream sector, Dakuku Peterside, has said.
Peterside, who made this disclosure at the weekend, said “both legislative chambers are at the top of the PIB and I’m sure we will pass it in 2014”.
He explained that “the PIB is at a stage we call the technical session where the committees involved look at the bill holistically before formal presentation for adoption.”
On the purported frosty relationship between the lower legislative chamber and the executive arm of government, the Rivers legislator simply said: “As far as the House is concerned, there is no rancour between us. On our part we legislate and if the executive fail to execute we compel them to do so”.
