We have all been there, haven’t we? Between looming work deadlines, family obligations, staying at the top of bills and completing some housework, sometimes we simply get exhausted.
And as is the case for most people, that exhaustion tends to creep its way into our work live as well, making us feel too lazy to stay energetic at work.
Now since being lazy at work is something that’s obviously NOT recommended, here are some tips to help all of you lazybones out there regain your spark:
1. Maintain a sleep schedule.
Your body has a natural circadian rhythm that adapts to a regular sleep/wake cycle. Going to bed and waking up at roughly the same time every day (Yes! Even on weekends) will help you maintain your energy levels throughout the day as you will wake up every morning feeling rested and refreshed.
2. Hello Sunshine.
Sunlight has a stimulating effect on our brains since it signals our bodies that it’s now morning. Exposing yourself to some sunlight will give you an energy boost for the day and if possible, try to keep those bedroom blinds open as you will be exposed to quality light as soon as you get up.
3. Be grateful for the craziness of life.
Before starting each day, go through a list of things you are grateful for.
While initially this may seem like a useless exercise, doing so will actually give you the focus, as well as the energy, to go through yet another day of madness.
4. Get your heart pumping.
Hitting the gym gives you the adrenaline rush required to get your day started. And for all those yogis out there, who like staying away from the gym and instead indulge themselves in a morning yoga session, way to go people as any kind of a fitness class is recommended to get you pumped up for the long hours.
5. Get your caffeine fixed.
A steaming hot cup of coffee, first thing in the morning, instantly lifts your spirits and gets you going.
But as great as your morning caffeine fix is going to be, try avoiding it in the afternoon as it can affect sleep at night and instead try green tea for your 4 PM pick me-up.
6. Go on YouTube.
A good laugh raises your blood pressure and improves your heart rate too, which can then pump you up when you are feeling sluggish.
7. Health is the new wealth.
Eating healthy and keeping yourself hydrated throughout the day will improve your concentration levels and will make you feel energized.
Opt for healthier snacks (proteins, food rich in fiber) and try to stay away from your favourite junk food (even if it is a lip smacking chocolate pizza).
This greasy fattening junk not only makes you lethargic but also brings along oodles of pounds that you may later find difficult to shed. So act smart and eat smart.
8. Go off the grid.
Switch off all your electronics (even your favourite series on Netflix) at least an hour before bed. Dim your bedroom lights, put on a soothing music and relax. It will help you sleep better and wake up relaxed and rested.
