BE HAPPY TODAY.

We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another. Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and we'll be more content when they are. After that, we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage. We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, are able to go on a nice vacation, or when we retire. The truth is, there's no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when? Your life will always be filled with challenges. It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway. Happiness is the way. So, treasure every moment that you have and treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time with... and remember that time waits for no one. So, stop waiting --until your car or home is paid off --until...

What the others will say - a knowledge

An old man, staying in a small south Indian town came to visit his son in Bombay recently. The son in his early thirties is a successful businessman living with his wife and son. The father, having spent most of his life at his birthplace, hardly understands a splatter of Hindi or English, forget Marathi. But he doesn't care. 'I have come here to spend a few days with my son and his family. I don't have to go out and socialize with the city people,' he said. But the son is very excited about his father's rare visit to Bombay. He wants to make the best of it. He and his wife want to show him around the city. And yes, the son enjoys those evening hours too, when he and his father go out and sit in a good bar, sipping their favorite drink. Last week he was in a very good mood. 'Let's go to a five star hotel's bar tonight,' he told his father. It was a beautiful evening. Talking about everything under the sun they had a few drinks. As usual they were off...

GRATITUDE

Cultivate the Healing Power of Gratitude Gratitude is an immensely powerful force that we can use to expand our happiness,  create loving  relationships, and even improve our health. Many scientific studies, including research by renowned psychologists Robert Emmons and Michael McCullough, have found that people who consciously focus on gratitude experience greater emotional wellbeing and physical health than those who don't.   In comparison with control groups, those who cultivated a grateful outlook:   Felt better about their lives as a whole Experienced greater levels of joy and happiness Felt optimistic about the future Got sick less often Exercised more regularly Had more energy, enthusiasm, determination, and focus Made greater progress toward achieving important personal goals Slept better and awoke feeling refreshed Felt stronger during trying times Enjoyed closer family ties Were more likely to help othe...

Be Content

Wherever I am is wherever I am meant to be, whatever I am doing is whatever I am meant to be doing and whatever everyone else is doing is exactly what they are meant to be doing - this is contentment. If you do want to change where you are, or what you are doing, the first thing is to be content with wherever you are and whatever you are doing right now! Paradoxically that's what attracts opportunities and invitations to be somewhere else! Why? Because you are a living magnet and contentment is one of your most attractive qualities. And the law of attraction says that according to your dominant thoughts so you will attract the people and circumstances into your life. Being content right now attracts the best possible future.  relax7     Loyalty   It is said that the mind can be your best friend or your worst enemy. At every moment we have the opportunity to choose our company; thoughts which bring oxygen to the spirit or those who bring pain. If I am loyal to mys...
22 things happy people do differently There are two types of people in the world: - Those who choose to be happy and those who choose to be unhappy. Contrary to popular belief, happiness does not come from fame, wealth or material goods. It comes from within. The richest person in the world can be miserably unhappy, while a homeless may be smiling and happy with his life. The people are happy because they are happy. They have a positive outlook on life and are at peace with themselves. The question is: how do they do it? It's very simple. Happy people have habits that improve their lives and behave differently. Ask a happy person and she will say:   1. Do not hold a grudge. Happy people understand that it is better to forgive and forget to let the negative feelings dominate. Grudge is harmful and can cause depression, anxiety and stress. Why let an offence for someone exercising some power over you? If you forget your grudges, will gain a clear conscience, and enough to enjoy t...

A pencil is not only a pencil!

Once upon a time........A boy was watching his grandmother write a letter. At one point he asked: 'Are you writing a story about what we've done? Is it a story about me?' His grandmother stopped writing her letter and said to her grandson: I am writing about you,... actually, but more important than the words is the pencil I'm using. I hope you will be like this pencil when you grow up.' Intrigued, the boy looked at the pencil. It didn't seem very special. 'But it's just like any other pencil I've ever seen!' 'That depends on how you look at things. It has five qualities which, if you manage to hang on them, will make you a person who is always at peace with the world.' 'First quality: you are capable of great things, but you must never forget that there is a hand guiding your steps. We call that hand God, and He always guides us according to His will.' 'Second quality: now and then, I have to stop writ...

What is the value of Happiness?

Happiness is a state of mind and we keep accumulating things like mobile phones, cameras, DVDs, VCDs, iPod, cars, digital instruments just for the heck of it. How many can recall when was the last time one has used them, how often and how useful they are now? We are not content with what we have unless and until we acquire the things we do not have. The exchange mela offer comes handy to give and pay more to buy a better one. As long as the offer is alive our longings also survive. Who's wrong and what is wrong and where? Whether its car, PC, laptop, cell phones and other gadgets we would like to flaunt the recent in the market. Do we need it really, can we do with the basic ones, or is it worth going for the up gradation of gadgets? How many of us think with sense of their utility? If a phone is just for contacts in emergencies why do we have to go for the costly ones when we can very well do with the simple ones? How many are happy with the limited resources and simple gadgets? A...

Convert Your Irritations into a Positive Energy

A psychiatrist was consulted by a man whose marriage and career were both in serious trouble. His problem was his constant irritability and bad temper. He was concerned about this himself, but if any one tried to discuss it with him, he exploded in anger. He constantly told himself that everyone was picking on him and that he had to defend himself against them. To counter the negative auto suggestion, he advised him to use positive auto suggestion. Several times a day in the morning, noon, and at night prior to sleep he was to repeat to himself. From now on, I shall grow more humor, joy, happiness, and cheerfulness are now becoming my natural states of mind. Every day I am becoming more and more lovable and understanding. I will be center of cheer and goodwill to all those around me, infecting them with my good spirits. This happy, joyous, and cheerful mood is now becoming my normal, natural state of mind. I am grateful. After a month, his wife and his coworkers remarked on how much eas...

"HOW TO CREATE A SOCIAL STATE ," by Saul Alinsky

There are 8 levels of control that must be obtained before you are able to create a social state. The first is the most important. *1) Healthcare - Control healthcare and you control the people. 2) Poverty - Increase the Poverty level as high as possible, poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing for them everything needed to live. 3) Debt - Increase the debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes, and this will produce more poverty 4) Gun Control - Remove the ability to defend themselves from the Government. That way you are able to create a police state. 5) Welfare - Take control of every aspect of their lives (Food, Housing, and Income). 6) Education - Take control of what people read and listen to; take control of what children learn in school. 7) Religion - Remove the belief in God from the Government and schools. 8) Class Warfare - Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor. This will cause more discontent and ...

Observing Nature to learn about life

A whale moves its caudal fin (tail) from left to right to propel itself forward. A seagull flaps its wings up and down to able to fly. Moving forward and flying through the "obstacles" in life could be accomplished if we learn that lesson from Nature: The opposites have their own timing. If we respect that timing and allow for one side of the different dichotomies in life to express themselves, we are assuring that the complementary side will arrive in a "healthy" way. Someone could have good health and not knowing what is "bad" health; that person could enjoy his experience or not. Then, a disease could arrive which will allow that person to know what is "bad" health…. The option after that is good health again; how do we move through those moments, how stable our attitude remains will assure that the experience of moving forward to the right to then move towards the left side of life as a fish does, will be appreciated and enjoyed as the experi...

It takes more energy to resist than to let go.

Those were the words of wisdom that I heard from a yoga teacher in a class that I attended named "Hot flow level 2" where the temperature of the classroom is about 90 to 100 F. Lots of sweaty enjoyment there! No doubt she is "right" about letting go… almost.. When we speak about physical resistance, then that may be the case. When we are talking about emotional issues, then to let go takes greater courage and greater wisdom than to resist, when there is someone there "choosing" to resist or to let go. More conventional religious teachings/ spiritual teachings will make it "easy for us," when they teach us to "resist evil," "resist anything that is ungodly," etc. Those teachings will put us into selecting one side of duality and rejecting the other. That teaching is not "bad" at all; but for someone who has a different vision and experience of the reality of life; that teaching could be viewed with further depth. Both...

8 symptoms in old age that warrant attention.

October 1 is International Day of Older persons. Often old age comes with problems, and mostly health related. Many a times, we miss out on things that are obvious. Especially after those youthful days when one had the attitude of 'come what may'. Here are some old age signs you should not miss out on, and seek immediate medical attention for. Low mood Due to the many health problems at their age and the on and off aches and pains they experience, we expect a grumpy mood in most elders to be normal. However, that isn't how it should be. If you notice your otherwise cheerful parent, elderly relative or neighbour appearing sullen, it's worth probing further and also seeking medical advice if things remain unchanged for long. Elders could feel low or depressed due to loneliness, feeling of worthlessness or troubled relationships at home. Often these aspects are overlooked by them and their family as well. (Read: Ten sure-shot ways to age healthy) Memory loss We all forget ...

 Political joke

God decided it was time to end the world, so he called together those whom he considered the three most influential people in the world. President of USA Barrack Obama, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh. "The world will end," God told them. "You must go and tell the people." Obama, made a live statement on TV. "I've good news and BAD news." he said. "The good news is that we have been right, there is a God. The bad news is that he is ending the world." The second person, Xi Jinping sent out a worldwide message. "I've bad news and WORSE news," he said. "The bad news is that we have been wrong all along - there is a God. The worse news is that he is ending the world." Third person, Manmohan Singh immediately calls up Sonia Gandhi and says, "I've good news and BETTER news. The good news is that God thinks I'm one of the three most influential people in the worl...

Worry Creates many Problems

A man having stomach pain went to his doctor. The doctor asked if he was having trouble in his personal life or at his job. The man explained that he was worried about some incidents that had happened at work with his boss and his co-workers. Was there something the man could do to change what had happened? ''No,'' responded the man. ''But it continues to bother me." The doctor said, ''There is nothing you can do about the past. Close the chapter and move on. You are upsetting yourself and your stomach over something you cannot change.'' The doctor prescribed some medicine, and advised him to forget the past to help expedite the cure of his stomachache. The next patient was a woman with migraine. She explained that she was afraid of making a wrong decision about her future. Sensing that this was causing her headaches, he told her, ''If you make a decision that turns out all right, there is nothing to worry about. If you make a decisi...

Two Travelling Angels.

Let me make known this very touching story with plenty of morale. When it is quoted and U present as `Things are n't always (like) what they seem` U are saying something ultimate. and useful in life irrespective of age. Two Travelling Angels...... Two travelling angels stopped to spend the night in the home of a wealthy family. The family was rude and refused to let the angels stay in the mansion's guest room. Instead the angels were given a small space in the cold basement. As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it. When the younger angel asked why, the older angel replied, "Things aren't always what they seem." The next night the pair came to rest at the house of a very poor, but very hospitable farmer and his wife. After sharing what little food they had the couple let the angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good night's rest. When the sun came up the next morning the angels found the farm...

It comes down to your intentions

In a world made up by our thinking minds, rules exist in a society, when that ability to flow with the totality of life is lost. Commandments are made, beliefs, taboos and dogmas established which will create an opinionated mind which is not free to experience life without labelling, but is always looking for a "reason" for an explanation to fit his own pre-established limits… that type of mind cannot experience the fullness of life because that mind needs to be convinced with "thoughtful" explanations to fit his own "picture" of life. Yeah… I believe as long as it fits me right… :-) that is as long as it fits what "I" believe to be right. The thinking mind thinks: "Killing is bad." Therefore, here is the law: "You shall not kill." That is "good"! Obviously the exceptions are: … Go ahead and name those… war, self-defense, hunger, etc. Every rule has an exception and if it doesn't at this time, it will appear at s...

 Life's back nine.

You know, time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of the passing years. It seems just yesterday that I was young, just married and embarking on my new life with my mate. Yet in a way, it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all the years went. I know that I lived them all. I have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams. But, here it is - the 'back nine' of my life and it catches me by surprise. How did I get here so fast?  Where did the years go and where did my youth go? I remember vividly seeing older people through the years and thinking that those older people were years away from me and that 'I was only on the first hole' and the 'back nine' was so far off that I could not fathom it or imagine fully what it would be like. But, here it is . . . my friends are retired and getting grey. They move slower and I see an older person now. Some are in better and some worse shape than me, but, I see the great change. N...

  How To Accept Yourself.

Every person you meet has something special to give you—that is, if you are open to receiving it. Each encounter offers you the gift of greater self-awareness by illustrating what you do and don't accept about yourself. An honest look will show you that the reactions you have to others give you more information about yourself than about them. by Jarl Forsman: "If we learn to open our hearts, anyone can be our teacher." ~Pema Chodron You can never know for sure what motivates other people. But you can learn what you are accepting or judging in yourself. For instance, if someone makes a remark about you and it's something you also judge in yourself, it will most likely hurt. However if they make the same remark and you don't have that judgment about yourself, it probably won't bother you at all. I once visited a new friend's house and everyone in the family was shorter than me. Since I'm the shortest person in my family, I never felt too tall. When my fr...

 Relationships advice: Start Over.

When couples first get together, everything is new and exciting. They overlook the little annoying things the other person does.  However, after time, the nagging starts, instead of hearing, You look beautiful, they might hear Why are you wearing that shirt? If this sounds like your relationship, first, the two of you need to sit down and be honest that things have changed.  Identify the things each other did in the beginning of the relationship that created the attraction in the first place. Then together, make a commitment to start over. The truth is, both of you will have to work on this.  It will not automatically be easy but it is possible. Start by forgiving each other, forgetting the past, and then start over with the flirtation. Focus only on the special things your mate does and relearn to put the unimportant things aside.  It will take some time so be patient. www.josiahdele.blogspot.com

Story: Bank Account.

A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with his hair fashionably combed and shaved perfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today. His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready. As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window. I love it,' he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy. Mr. Jones, you haven't seen the room; just wait..' 'That doesn't have anything to do with it,' he replied. Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged .. it's h...

What about the negativity of the people?

I know that if I am affected by the negativity of other people then I am going to be plunged into the cycle of actions, reactions and responses over which I have no control.  But if I see them, hear them, respect them as human beings and individuals and I understand their point of view, I will not let myself be moved from my position of inner stability.   If I can make sure that I remain my own master, their negativity will flow over me and above me and not influence me.  I can ask myself what it is that I want and then move in the direction to reach that goal.  I can develop the art of detachment, being friends and yet not allowing them to touch me.   I can draw on another analogy here: think of the image of a lotus flower.  It is found in dirty, stagnant water yet the lotus has a waxy substance on its petals and nothing can touch the surface, the dirt just rolls off. I can create that layer of protection so my inner purity and stability remain...

Choose your words carefully

A FARMER SLANDERED HIS NEIGHBOUR. Realising his mistake, he went to a preacher to ask for forgiveness. The preacher told him to take a bag of feathers and drop them in the centre of the town. The farmer did as he was told. Then the preacher asked him to go and collect the feathers and put them back in the bag. The farmer tried but couldn't as the feathers had all blown away. When he returned with the empty bag, the preacher said, ``the same thing is true about your words. You dropped them rather easily, but you cannot retrieve them. You need to be very careful in choosing your words.'' A person who says whatever he likes usually ends up hearing what he doesn't like. Be tactful. Tact consists of choosing one's words carefully and knowing how far to go. It also means knowing what to say and what to leave unsaid. Talent without tact may not always be desirable. Words reflect attitude. Words can hurt feelings and destroy relationships. More people have been hurt by...

 "God Knows"

When you are tired and discouraged from fruitless efforts; God knows how hard you have tried. When you've cried so long and your heart is in anguish; God has counted your tears. If you feel that your life is on hold and time has passed you by; God is waiting with you. When you're lonely and your friends are too busy even for a phone call; God is by your side. When you think you've tried everything and don't know where to turn; God has a solution. When nothing makes sense and you are confused or frustrated; God has the answer. If suddenly your outlook is brighter and you find traces of hope; God has whispered to you. When things are going well and you have much to be thankful for; God has blessed you. When something joyful happens and you are filled with awe; God has smiled upon you. When you have a purpose to fulfill and a dream to follow; God has opened your eyes and called you by name. Remember that wherever you are or whatever you 'r...
