Facebook Tried To Buy Snapchat For $3 Billion.

By Chris Crum

Snapchat reportedly turned down a $3 billion (or more) acquisition by Facebook. The private messaging company must really think it's on to something special.

Facebook must think so too. That's three times what it paid for Instagram.

This piece of news comes from the Wall Street Journal, citing people briefed on the matter, who also say that other companies are courting it as well, and that it will not likely entertain any acquisition or investment offer until early next year.

The Journal recently reported on a $1 billion acquisition offer from Facebook.

This comes at a time when Facebook is losing teen interest, and even acknowledging that fact.

On its recent earnings call, Facebook CFO David Ebersman said, "I want to say a few words about youth engagement on Facebook. As we've said previously, this is a hard issue for us to measure because self-reported age data is unreliable for younger users, so we've developed other analytical methods to help us estimate usage by age. Our best analysis of youth engagement in the U.S. reveals that usage of Facebook among U.S. teens overall was stable from Q2 to Q3, but we did see a decrease in daily users specifically among younger teens."

He added, "We won't typically call out such granular data, especially when it's of questionable statistical significance, given the lack of precision of age estimates for younger users, but we wanted to share this with you now since we get a lot of questions about teens. We're pleased that we remain close to fully penetrated on teens in the U.S. Our monthly user numbers remain steady, and overall engagement on Facebook remains strong. We'll continue to focus our development efforts to build products that drive engagement for people of all ages."

A recent study also found that more teens prefer Twitter than do Facebook as their social network of choice, and a lot of them are also using Snapchat. With Twitter consisting mostly of public content, and Snapchat of private, that leaves Facebook somewhere in between, trying to be everything to everyone.

Google Authenticator, a formidable layer of protection to your account.

Google Authenticator is a free security app that can protect your accounts against password theft. It's easy to set up and can be used in a process called two-factor authentication (2FA) offered on popular social media services like Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.  The app ( iOS / Android ) generates a random code used to verify your identity when you're logging into various services. The code can technically be sent to your phone via text message every time— but the Google Authenticator app provides an extra level of security.  SMS-based 2FA has a  known security flaw , and any devoted hacker can attempt to  socially engineer  an attack against your phone company. The Google Authenticator app eliminates the possibility of an SMS-based attack  using algorithms  to generate the codes on your phone. Here's how to set it up: 1. Download Google Authenticator from either the Apple App Store or the Android Google Play store. It's free. 2. Nex...

Dangerous sex Positions For Men

The most common cause of pĂ©nile injury is found among the variety of potentially dangerous positions used for sĂ©xual intercourse. The most popular is the ‘woman-on-top’. This type of position can result in an impact between the pĂ©nis against the female pelvis or perineum that can easily traumatize the pĂ©nile cylinders. A pĂ©nis becomes Ă©rect when the lining of the cylinder within it is engorged with blood.  A pĂ©nis fracture can occur when there is trauma to the erĂ©ct pĂ©nis, resulting in a rupture of the cylinder lining. This very painful injury is often accompanied by an abrupt, distressing cracking noise that is immediately followed by dark bruising of the pĂ©nis due to blood escaping the cylinder. In ten to 30% of pĂ©nis fractures, the urethra is damaged and blood may be visible at the urinary opening. Given these signs, an injury should be relatively simple to diagnose, right? You would be surprised, even with the unsettling sounds of a fracture occurring, many men...
